Why do people now live by the motto “How dare you” instead of “I have a dream”?

We used to have dreams. Big dreams. Dreams of a better world, of equality and freedom. We looked to the future and saw possibilities, opportunities, hope.

But today? Today we only see threats. Climate change, wars, pandemics. Our reaction? “How dare you!” How dare you destroy our future? How dare you do nothing?

We are trapped in a cycle of outrage. Every news item, every tweet, every post is a new opportunity to get upset. We point fingers at others instead of making moves ourselves.

Where has our “I have a dream” gone? Have we forgotten how to dream? Or are we simply afraid of grand visions because reality has caught up with us?

Perhaps it’s easier to be angry than hopeful. Perhaps it feels safer to criticize than to inspire. But does this move us forward?

We need both: The courage to denounce injustices AND the ability to imagine a better future. We must learn to dream again without closing our eyes to reality.

Let’s transform “How dare you” into “How can we?” How can we improve the world? How can we make our dreams come true?

It’s time we allow ourselves to dream again. Because only those who have dreams can make them a reality.
