While our moral instincts may have evolutionary origins in promoting species survival, I think this raises an interesting question: Does that fully explain why we consider harming innocent life to be wrong? Even if morality evolves with society, perhaps there are some fundamental principles - like the wrongness of gratuitous violence - that transcend pure evolutionary pragmatism. What are your thoughts on whether morality can be reduced entirely to evolutionary benefit?​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
