I'm 58 and my first real memory is from about the fifth grade of high school. At that time I noticed that I had terribly bad grades, but seemed very smart. I only had new memories when I went to a different school with a completely different teaching system. Then I skipped two classes and suddenly I was no longer a bad pupil, but a good one among very good ones. The first teacher I really remember was Mr. Regler, who grabbed boorish boys by the neck and shook them, or dragged them by their feet through the classroom into the hallway.
